Las oficinas son chidas

Hola Familia!

How´s it going everybody? It was a cool week! I´ve been learning a ton of new things everyday here in the offices with my new assignment. Nothing too complicated yet, just a lot of things to get done everyday.

First off, Thursday, President Treviño took Élder Smchitz and I to Acapulco and Chilpancingo to get some signatures and pictures of the elders in the mission that are coming up on their year mark and need to get their Visas renewed. It was pretty cool to talk to President for the long drive. Sounds like he was a successful businessman. Has some good spiritual and temporal advice.  But the best part was when we stopped for Tarascos Tacos in Acapulco!!! Élder Schmitz and I took down half a kilo of pastor with cheese melted on top man it was so good.

Sunday I was assigned to give a talk in church, but I was saved when Élder Martínez of the area 70 decided to show up and take up a bunch of sacrament meeting. He gave a really good talk too on love. He said posed the question How do you know you love someone? How does someone know you love them? One answer would be to reflect on all the past things you have done for that person and all the things you´d be willing to do for them. Christ loves us with a perfect love because he was willing to do everything for us and he did. And he invites us, A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another. Not only should we love others like ourself, but we should love them even as He loves them. What an invitation! Obviously, we all have a long way to go before being able to love everyone even as Jesus does, but like everything, we need to try. The last thing Élder Martinez asked to the parents was, What are the best things you can do to show your children that you love them? Family prayer, family scripture study, and familly have evening. I can also testify to the power of those three things and I always felt good after doing them with my fam.

Anyway, love you all! Have a good week!

Love,
Élder Tucker

¡Aún más cambios: Secretario Ejecutivo!

Hola Familia,

I don´t have time to write right now, but this week, President Treviño called me as the new executive secretary of the mission! Some of my new responsibilites include renewing the Visas and passports of all the missionaries in the mission from outside of Mexico, receiving and sending off missionaries in the Mexico City airport, helping with the transfers, and buying bus tickets for missionaries that need to travel in the mission. I´m very excited for this new assignment. Élder Schmitz, the last executive secretary, will be training me for the next 2 weeks to teach me the ropes and my other companion, Élder Bonilla from Honduras, is the finance secretary. It sounds like generally, I´ll be working in the office in Cuernavaca everyday from 9am until about 2:30pm and then we´re expected to proselyte the rest of the day. But we have the flexibility to change the order of our schedule based on the time of appointments and the busyness of our things to do.

Saturday, we had a baptism in my new ward, Palmas, of a 45 year-old convert named César who I just met on Wednesday! He´s awesome and I´m excited to keep visiting and working with him!

Hopefully I´ll have a little more time to write next week, but anyway, it´s all good out here! Love you all!

Love,
Élder Tucker

Hola Familia!

Another good week out here!

Tuesday we had a multizone conference in Cuernavaca with our new mission president, President Treviño. He seems really good and excited about the work, he´s already changed the schedule so that we´re going to bed at 9:30 now and getting up at 6. I heard a lot of missionaries mention the difference in experience between him and President Ávila because before coming to the mission, President Ávila was an area 70 and President Treviño was just a bishop in Monterrey, but I´m excited for what´s in store and I think he´ll be great! He, like President Ávila, talked a lot about the importance of obedience. He wants the missionaries of this mission to be like the Army of Helaman!

Élder Pacheco and I have got two families right now that are so down to get baptized, we just gotta get em married and stuff so I´ll keep ya posted, but man it´s the best to see people get amped about the Gospel like us, I love it.

Today, we had a sweet activity with the zone where we played basketball (so nice to dominate in something after always getting owned at soccer down here), ate pizza, and watch the movie El Monte del Señor (The Mountain of the Lord). Super cool movie about the Wilford Woodruff and the construction of the Salt Lake Temple and I totally recommend it. Wilford Woodruff had the coolest conversion btw.

Love you all, have a great week!

Hola Familia!

Another good week out here in La Misión México Cuernavaca! It´s pretty chill having an american comp because we can just talk about basketball and spanglish all day and it is hilarious! It´s still difficult getting used to the new area because my mind has been overflowed with yet another new set streets and colonies I´ve never been to before, but atleast I get a minimum of 4 more weeks with Élder Pacheco before I gotta take over.

Today we went bowling with the zone in Cuernavaca because we got our first multizone conference with President Treviño tomorrow! I´m excited to meet him and hear about his vision for the mission. And by the way, your boy beat everyone in the zone in each of the two games of bowling we played lol.

This week I really got to see a positive difference missionary work is having in the lives of one of our investigator families. Élder Pacheco told me that before I got here, this particular family almost wasn´t even willing to meet with the missionaries, but this week, they anxiously received us and asked  great, deep-thinking questions which shows how much interest they´ve gained!  Yesterday they attended church and they´ve been telling us their desires to be closer as a family and centered on gospel principles!

I know that every single one of us can make a tremendously positive difference in someone else´s life because this is the Lord´s work. He can make a fine instrument out all of us if we are willing to let. I invite you to look around and find what positive difference you can make in the lifeof someone us.

Well, that all I got for this week! Hope everyone´s enjoying summer! Love you all!

Hola Familia!
Another dope week out here, but right now I´m bummed because they just transfered me from the best area/ward in the mission, Insurgentes. So right now I`m in Cuernavaca waiting for them to tell me where my next area will be and with whom. Élder Amancio will be headed back to Iguala with the elder that`ll finish his training. Yair will be baptized this week and after church yesterday he said ´estoy seguro´!!!!!

Yesterday, was tight because a bunch of investigators came to church and Gospel Principles was full. Always a good feeling especially when you gone through some sundays in the mission without the gospel principles class because no one´s there. Anyway, I taught the class on Spiritual Gifts. The gifts that we receive from our father in heaven are amazing. I think everyone has atleast one spiritual gift promised in their patriarchal blessing like faith, obedience, or healing, but what´s amazing is that if we are willing, we can receive all the gifts that God has for us. In the mission, for example, I´ve been able to witness the power of the gift of tongues and the interpretation of tongues.
Well, the cyber is about to close so I gotta wrap it up, but I love you all and hope you are well! Viva México!

Love,

Elder Tucker

Hola Familia

Another good week out here in the México Cuernavaca Mission. And yes, everyone is stoked that Mexico beat
Germany yesterday in their first world cup match in Russia. Before the game, everyone here was certain that
Mexico wouldn´t be able to stack up against the reigning champs, but now everyone says they`re gonna win
it all hahaha.
Anyway, it was a pretty normal week in the Insurgentes Ward with Élder Amancio, my dominican son. Saturday,
we had our ward rescue activity where we visited menos activos and other people with the members and the
rest of the missionaries in our zone. I have to say it was the best rescue activity I´ve participated in so far in my
mission, so many people showed up and it turned out to be really effective because ward conference yesterday
was bien llena. The members are awesome.

In Tuesday´s visit with Yair, he shared with us a pretty dope experience. While in church, he began to think about
how good his life is all the blessings he received. He said ¨I´ve got a job, good family, friends, girlfriend, I´m
studying well, what more could I ask for? I´m not really in need of a church, and yet, I feel good in the chapel
and I feel right. And that feeling stays with me throughout the whole week.¨ !!!!!!!! The Holy Ghost is beginning
to testify to Yair that the Church is true through attendance! Best feeling to hear your investigator´s progression.

We found a bunch of new people this week that we´ll be working with.

The weather has been fantastic lately with all this rain I love it.

Hope everyone´s doing great, keep writing me and asking questions. Sometimes I dont know what to say!

Love,
Élder Tucker

Hola Familia,

Another good week out here in the México Cuernavaca Mission! Élder Amancio and I have been working really well together and the ward has been supporting us like crazy so hopefully we´ll be able to start seeing some more baptisms soon.

One of our most promising investigators right now is named Yaír, he just turned 18 years old and his girlfriend is a member of the ward. At first, he seemed a little bit pressured to listen to us by his girlfriend´s family, but recently we´ve been able to meet with him personally and see progress in him and honestly, he´s a really impressive joven. This dude works and studies all the time; Saturday nights, he works the night shifts and gets off Sunday morning just two hours before church! And he still is one of the first to arrive to the capilla! We´ve been helping him to pray and read in the Book of Mormon and we just hope he can be baptized soon, and not only for his girlfriend, but for himself because he would be such a wonderful addition to the Church.

There´s also Maurina who is always golden in the lessons but has yet to come to church in these last two weeks that we´ve met with her. She´s basically a single mother though because her husband ¨´está allá´ AKA working in the US so atleast it´s understandable because it´s hard to get kiddos ready for church early sunday morning.

From what I´ve been hearing about AZ, I think the weathers about the same over here in Iguala, hot hot hot! Hahaha

A couple of videos that I´ve seen recently have been on my mind: One is called the Anonymous Hero, but it´s not by the Church. It´s about this humble man in Thailand that does a bunch of friendly, silent acts of service everyday. The narrator says something to the effect of ´This man will never be famous. You´ll never see him on tv, or in the movies. He´ll never be amazingly rich. But, he does his part to be good and to make the world a better place. Be more like him.´ Kinda reminds me of Man in the Mirror by MJ. Anyway, the other is of The Life of Jesus Christ videos where Jesus gives the parable of the two sons who were asked to work in their father´s field. The first refused, but eventually repented and worked. The second anxiously answered yes, but ended up not doing anything. The first was the one that did the will of his father although at first he didn{t want to. How beautiful is it that if we truly repent, the Lord forgets all the bad that we have done and gives us another chance to serve Him and be mad instruments in His hands. I know that the Atonement of Jesus Christ is real and that it is for all of us. I know that we can turly repent and be made clean of our sins.

No pics unil next week, I need to buy a new memory, sorry! I love you all! Cuídense!!!

Love,

Élder Tucker
